Chile’s bulbous plant diversity is quite high, certainly greater than that of the United States and most other regions of the world, although it is behind the global bulb capital of South Africa. These liliaceous beauties are on a dry hillside of clay soil embedded with numerous rocks. They are Leucocoryne coquimbensis var alba, which is a white form of a normally blue flowering plant. The gorgeous golden shrubs they are blooming alongside are the leguminous Senna cumingii var alcaparra, with an unidentified red grass to add additional color contrast to the scene.
